MECCA: Sharing time and times (space and ideas), since 1982.

As we approach the third decade of Memorial Day gatherings I look back and consider the range of locations, activities and friends who have participated. Begun in Fairhaven (1982) and moved to OSPP in 1987(?), this reunion has morphed from a drink-a-thon to mtn bike mecca to the kid-centric gatherings of today.

MECCA and OSPP represent some of the few continuities in my life, and perhaps yours. OSPP is the cabin, the place, and the family values it embodies. MECCA is memorial day weekend festivities at OSPP.

MECCA is a 'stone soup' event, created by the constantly changing cast of characters and conditions, and it is usually delicious! The 'flavor' of MECCA is always changing yet the core idea remains constant; an unstructured, self-defining annual event in which friends gather to play and share.

I appreciate the participation of the diverse networks of friends and marvel at the changing landscape of activities and inspirations. I have enjoyed each incarnation and look forward to the unknown futures.... s.
